Inspired & Terrified | Diary

Like any other twenty-something nowadays I haven't quite figured "it" out yet and by "it" I mean my life/career/heart/ everything that matters except for love (thank God for Peter). Lately I've been thinking about what genuinely makes me happy, what I see myself doing for a living that isn't just another phase or trend. And as much as I want to place myself in one category and call it a day, I just can't.

I am a Blogger, Designer, Stylist, Illustrator, Photographer, and Maker whether I call myself one or not that doesn't change the fact that I do all of those things on a daily basis. For awhile I didn't think I was good enough to call myself any of those professions and now I know I can be them and more.

Instagram even does this thing now where I guess if you're good enough or have enough followers they give you a label i.e. Photographer, Retail, Blogger, and so forth. What would they possibly label me as? Other than a 24 year old human trying to figure it out. And as terrifying as it all is I'm still inspired. I'm still hopeful that I'm en route to where I'm supposed to be and that my label is coming soon. Someday.

As for now I'll still be here in my tiny corner on the internet trying to blog without a laptop, discovering Fresno with Peter, and dipping my toes into Interior Design/Styling. I'll also be revamping Denny Noelle to suit who I am now and hope that you'll still be here reading as we grow together!

Pre-Fall Looks | Style

Fall is right around the corner and I'm quite excited for cooler weather, layers, and everything pumpkin. But I'm most excited for dressing the part and making outfits that are functional, stylish, and comfortable all at the same time.  I incorporated a lot of my staples which I've had for quite some time that I love creating new outfits with. All of these looks also contain pieces I've been wearing all Summer long that can easily transition to the new season.

52 Days Left | Diary

Hello there! If you're wondering, I'm still alive surviving the every day struggles of planning a Wedding. By now it's not so much "planning" anymore but rather finalizing, deadlines, and anxiousness about the big day. Two days ago Peter and I celebrated our 7 years & 2 months on the 23rd of August and we realized it would be one of our last 23rds since our wedding anniversary would now be the 17th. We just couldn't believe how much time has really gone by and the fact that we get to spend our first Fall together this year.

As ready as I am to say goodbye to the Summer heat and say hello to my leather jacket and blanket scarves I can't help but wish that time moved a little slower. I'll be experiencing many changes in the upcoming months and I'm not a 100% sure I'll be completely ready to start this new chapter in my life. Not that I'm not excited, I just like to hold on to things a bit too tightly. So I find myself hoarding memories and experiences with my parents and friends here at home before I start my new life in California.

I can't wait to be married, I can't wait to furnish our apartment, I can't wait for the adventures to come, and I can't wait to spend more time here and more time opening up shop just as I set out to do from the very start. Wish me luck!

11th Street Records | Places

One of my favorite spots in downtown is this record store on Fremont Street called 11th Street Records. Every time we're around the area we always pop in to peruse records old and new. You can bet Billie came home with me today as my first ever record. I love the sound of her voice and feel transported to a different time once her songs start to play.

The Little Things | Style

Here's a mini haul of Anthropologie things I picked up today that put a smile on my face.
-Mini Monogram Necklace letter "a" for my new last name Aboyo.
-Albeit Luminous Lip Oil which I was eyeing online and am so happy to try (will share my thoughts on it in a different post)
-Mario Badescu Facial Spray that smells of lovely roses essential to my summer skincare routine.

No Chill | Style

It's really no surprise how hot its getting here in Las Vegas. Summer literally has no chill and has already reached triple digits, next week we're supposed to be reaching 117 degrees. This is usually when I become more of a homebody than I already am and stay indoors and avoid going outside at all costs. So I thought I'd illustrate some of my Summer essentials to stay cool, get my mind off of the heat, and hopefully give you some inspiration when it comes to your Summer wardrobe!

May Favorites | Style

I feel like I just blinked and May is already over! I've collected many favorites this month in clothing, beauty, and accessories that I wanted to share with you all. This month I turned 24 and I feel like my taste in things have become more simplistic and more about quality and design.

My first clothing favorite is this lovely Violeta Kimono from Anthropologie! (no surprise there) I'm not sure why its taken me this long to get on the kimono wagon, but I actually avoided these for the longest time. I think its because some of them felt like they just swallowed me up and gave me no shape whatsoever, but they sure are comfortable and light weight. I couldn't resist the floral and pastel hues on this number along with the tassels hanging on the ends. I find myself pairing this with a basic tank and good pair of jeans underneath and some sandals and I'm ready to face this 100+ degree weather!

Seven Magic Mountains | Places

Just a few miles from home sits these beautiful totems of brightly colored boulders in the middle of the desert. This scenic art installation is called Seven Magic Mountains by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone and was a beautiful sight to see and experience. The mountains represent the natural and artificial, the then and now, while they stand happily in a dry desert lake bed directly in the middle of the city and mountains. I couldn't help but smile walking amongst the structures that stand at 25 to 35 feet tall!

Wherever There Is | Diary

I haven't really thought about it much until now, just because there's still so much I want to learn and accomplish.  There's so much more that I want to do with my so called "career." I almost wanted to give it up for a stable paying job. Because it would be nice to have a consistent income, but I don't think nice is enough for me.

I've been thinking about our generation lately. Tech savvy, pretty coffee drinkers, always have something to say, and lazy are just a few ways to describe us, but I'm pretty proud of what we've accomplished.  For what people my age have done on social media, and what they've done to follow their dreams and not the norm.  Either you get left behind or you go with the times and find your own path. Although it could be unconventional if it pays the bills it pays the bills right?

6 Months To Go | Diary

Planning a wedding is one of the weirdest and happiest things I've ever done lol. It's weird in the fact that somehow once your engaged people automatically think you know what you're doing, Pinterest becomes your best friend if it isn't already, and I honestly don't have much to do for my bridesmaids as much as I thought I would. So I haven't had a bridezilla moment just yet and hopefully for them that doesn't change (some of them are asking for it).

Happy 1 Year! | Diary

I really can't believe it's been one year already! I can still remember the days when I couldn't even decide on what name to go with and here we are. Thank you so much for all the support you've given to Denny Noelle over the past year. I reread my very first post on this blog and was so happy that I did. It reminded me of what I wanted this place to be for me and for my readers and one thing that stood out was this blog is a place for growth.  I'm such a late bloomer when it comes to most things but I couldn't be more proud of myself for sticking it out and continuing to get to where I want to be.

Cozy & Collected | Style

Hi there! Let's just say besides the wedding plans I've also been looking forward to our first apartment together and have been hoarding a bunch of home decor for our space. I've collected these pieces over the past few months and thought I would share since its been forever since I've done a homeware haul :) I must say its a different experience shopping for a space to share with your significant other, I'm constantly questioning whether things are too feminine for Peter to enjoy as well, but I think I've found a happy middle ground.  Some of these pieces he even purchased with me and it's our new favorite hobby together.

Hello Sunshine | Art

As much as I love the cold weather, Spring has found its way early to Las Vegas and I'm actually excited! Not necessarily for the high temperatures, but for all the Spring apparel that's arriving at Anthropologie specifically this beautiful dress. I love the bright red color and sail boat print on the Berru Poplin Dress by Maeve. I picture wearing it with the Bitsie Heels by Jeffrey Campbell which comes in a wide range of color and comfort with a low chunky heel and a scoop of ice cream! I'd love to know what your looking forward to most for Spring this year in the comments below, Happy Wednesday!

Portland Day 6 | Places

Our last day in this wonderfully weird city had arrived. After 5 days of exploration we still had a little adventure left in us. Most of our time was spent in downtown so we decided to wander around Old Town for a bit to see the Portland sign and a leather shop before we hopped on a blue line back into the city.

Portland Diary - Day 4 & 5

Let's continue shall we? By Day 4 we knew our way around the city for the most part and spent most of the day revisiting places we couldn't get enough of such as Boys Fort, Blue Star Donuts, and The Ace Hotel for more photobooth pictures.

Day 5

We had crossed off most of the places we had wanted to see in Portland, except for one which was Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co. We had saved this place for a whole day adventure since it was about a 20 minute drive outside of downtown. If you didn't know about this place you would never find it or it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere near other industrial buildings and factories. It truly was a hidden gem that I learned about on Pinterest just months before and was so excited to finally see it in person.

Portland Diary - Day 3

One of the best things about Portland is that you can be in the city one moment and 20 minutes later you're surrounded by trees and rivers. On day 3 we stepped away from downtown and headed to Multnomah Falls. The drive there itself was beautiful driving along the river that separated Oregon and Washington and little fishing spots where actual swans swam about.

January Favorites

January was a month of travel for me. From trips to Fresno, California and Portland, Oregon I had to pack light and essential so most of my favorites are items that are multi-purpose. Plus a couple of items I've been eyeing that I just thought were pretty that I could transition into Spring :)

Portland Diary - Day 2

A huge part of what made our stay wonderful was The Society Hotel. I've never been so excited to stay anywhere before and our stay there in itself was an experience we'll never forget. Located in Old Town China Town was this lovely gem we randomly found on Airbnb. What used to be a lodge house for Sailors is now four floors of interior goodness with the best staff and comfiest cafe/lobby.

Portland Diary - Day 1

It's been two days since I've been home from Portland and I've been itching to get to a computer and share my adventures with you all in one post, but that would be a novel so heres to Day 1! Abby and I had the opportunity to celebrate her 21st birthday in Oregon for a week which was one of the best weeks of my life. This was the first time we got to travel alone and adventure in a city we've never been.

Hi 2016

As much as I have spent the last couple of months looking forward to the future, I've also been looking at the past. Past Moleskines (I like to call them Moleys) and my first portfolio of work that I did for graduation.  I spent many pages on notes, illustrations, and ideas for my career. Two years later I feel like I'm in the same position but have grown somehow. I can still remember a time before this blog where I thought I couldn't do it, where it took me forever just to figure out a name and funny how it ended up being my own. And recently I've been thinking about leaving it all behind to focus on the wedding and my shop, but I have come to the conclusion that I can't. That this tiny space on the internet is my baby and I've enjoyed watching it grow post after post no matter if there was anyone there to read it and thank you to those who were.

Positivity has been my main goal for this year, and as I add another moleskine to my little library of leather bound thoughts, I'm content and excited for what's to come. Happy New Year loves, 2016 is going to be great!
